    Sustainability at SulAmérica

SulAmérica has invested in a sustainability program since 2009 when the Sustainability Committee and Department were created. Since then, the Company has made its mark in this area in the Brazilian insurance market, as it was the first insurance company to apply the GRI methodology for reporting socio-environmental indicators in 2008 and, more recently, one of the four founding insurance signatory companies and the only Board member of the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) of the United Nations Environmental Program for Financial Institutions (UNEP FI).

    Strategy

The first step in drafting the sustainability strategy included performing a gap analysis on the existing initiatives and projects, benchmark studies in the national and international insurance market, the revision and definition of the materiality matrix, and the approval of a Corporate Sustainability Policy by the Board of Directors in the first half of 2013.

Through the evolution of the strategy and policy, a sustainability strategic initiative with targets and indicators directly related to the five priority sustainability themes defined in the new Policy was created. The goal of this initiative is to review and create new policies and processes, in order to include environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria in the business model and decision making process, and products and services.
